EFFECTS OF ORGANIZATIONAL CONFLICT ON WORKERS’PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIAN PUBLIC SERVICE  (A STUDY OF NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, AWKA)

ABSTRACT

This research is aimed at examining the effect of organizational conflicts on workers’ performance in Nigeria Tertiary institution, using Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka as a study. To achieve this aim, the researcher generated five research questions, explored various relevant literature by different scholars. The researcher also made use of self structured questionnaire and interviews to elicit relevant data needed for the research. The population of the study was 2770 workers’ but the sample size was 200 workers’. This was gotten through simple random sampling technique. Data collection were analyzed using simple percentage. From the findings, it was found that a poor working condition is a major cause of organization conflict. The study also showed that conflict is reducible in organization, therefore, it was concluded that conflict is part of organizations and with the application of right conflict resolution technique, it would be reduced. It was therefore recommended by the researcher that there should be proper study of conflicts so as to minimize its occurrence. Furthermore, it was recommended that government should try and make service attractive to the public by looking into the mode of hiring and the conditions of service. THE ROLE OF WOMEN STRUCTURES IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (A STUDY OF EHA-ALUMONA IN NSUKKA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA)

ABSTRACT

Government neglect to the development of rural areas have led to the backwardness of many areas. This situation attracts the attention of women structures to chart the course of development and embark on self-help projects to uplift their communities. Therefore, the scope of the research work is concentrated on the role of women structures in community development with a particular attention drawn to Eha-alumona, Nsukka local government area Enugu state. To gather information, the researcher distributed questionnaires to the sample population and personally interviewed the leaderships of the women structures and others in the community to ascertain their view on the impact of women structure in their community. The data collection reveals that women structures have contributed immensely to the development of the community. Their efforts have led to the building of schools, church, market, health care centre, award of scholarships, federal roads, electricity, pipe borne water, moderation of excessive culture, installation of security, maintenance of peace and order, resolution of conflicts etc. the researcher recommends that the governments (local, state and federal), traditional rulers, leaders of towns should give total support to the women organizations. The women structures should abhor corruption among themselves. The government should give matching grants and technical assistance when the need arises. It is quite evident from the foregoing analysis that women structures have made giant strides towards socio-political, economic and technological upliftment of some communities they have maximize the opportunities around them via the mobilization of available human, material and non-material resources in their environment.

THE EFFECT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION ON GRASS ROOT DEVELOPMENT IN ANAMBRA STATE PRODUCTIVITY: (A CASE STUDY OF IDEMILI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ANAMBRA STATE 2004-2014)

ABSTRACT

When the researcher choose this topic: the Effect of Local Government Administration on Grass Root Development, she was inspired by the high rate of embezzlement, poor leadership, low rate of accountability, generally laxity of the finance department and corruption in Anambra Local Government, and Idemili North Local Government in particular. To this, the researcher developed three (3) research questions. This questions were administered in form of questionnaires to 195 staff who were selected as a sample of the population. Apart from this, face to face interview were used to enable the researcher acquire factual information, consumer evaluations, attitudes, preferences and other information coming out during the conversation with the  respondents. In organizing and presenting data collected, tables and percentages were used as well. The data analysis revealed that the effect of local government administration and grass root development had created a negative impact in Idemili north local government area. The researcher therefore recommended that the revenue available to local government should be handled by honest and accountable personnel, those who posses sound knowledge and revenue generation and effectiveness. The outcome would be an effective and efficient management and administration of local government revenue in such a way that, they would deliver the needed development of the rural areas.
