ABSTRACT

The researcher investigate the problem of unemployment among Nigeria youths using Anambra state as the study review of related  literature on this topic was  made data were collected using questionnaire tool, method, the researcher used survey methods in this work due to the information needed sample e random was used in the study and out of the population was use as the sample and 932 questionnaires, were collected 180 distributed percentage method was used to analysis the data collected according to the result. Nigeria does not employ the youths due to poor qualification, entrust workers, and corruption to prospect of unemployment includes Armed robbery ,drug abuse .The researcher therefore, recommended among other that Nigerian youths should been encourage to attained institution after higher learning qualification and that Nigeria should make provision for employment of the young gradates to avoid engaging themselves in any unwholesome activities, they  should also provide jobs for skill and unskilled  workers.

In Nigeria cities, the continuous search for jobs was becoming central and general activities which only minor sectors of the population is being left out. The problem of unemployment is common amongst the youth and should not be overlooked. The unemployment problem extends to both skilled and unskilled job in town, it can also be discovered that proportion of these unemployed youths are even the primary and secondary school leavers.

As we all know, it only few of these educated youths that are opportune   to secure a job and it is as if it doesn’t matter how ambitious the applicants are in the face of reality, there is an increase in number of the youth   which are not employed. The federal, state and the local government look now as if they are useless to the national economy down. This study is concerned with knowing some of the reasons why federal as well as state are not employing the youths. And nobody understands whether the problem is from the youth to be employed or is from the government that sees not to employ the youth.

It is often said that poor qualification among the youth can not give them jobs. It is a wrong assertion that youth are not qualified for employment hence this research finding.

According to Njoku (2005:pg145) defines unemployment as a situation in which person is capable and willing to work and are unable to find suitable paid employment.

  • STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

In 1960s and 1970s, unemployment was not pronounced because, the government then was out from the universities with full job security with no qualms. Unemployment and under employment is seriously confronting the Nigeria youth in all ramifications.

The increase in population of Nigerians is one of the challenges facing the labour market with the government. On its part, failed to provide full employment to its citizenry. The increasing in government spending and flat ion have prevented political and economic development in the country.

The youth unemployment should be blamed on both the private and public sectors of the country. The government have an abysmally failed to provide for unskilled, semi- skilled and skilled people at all levels.

  • PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The general purpose is to evaluate the problems and prospect of youth unemployment in Nigeria .T he alarming rate of the youth unemployment in Nigeria is of great concern to the researcher. The future of Nigeria youth depends on the potency of the youth. Youth unemployment is the solution to youth restiveness. National economy can be improved through empowerment and job creation, cultism can also be checkmate.

1.7   LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Though, the researcher completed the study but she encountered some problems which made the work some how uneasy, the limitation of the study includes the following.

  • TIME: Time at the disposal of the research was comparatively work so far the researcher has to combine both the project work and the preparation for ordinary national diploma examination
  • FINANCE:  The finance involvement in school under our present economic condition is too harsh for the study with exception to research. The researcher does not have enough transport income other than collecting from aunty and brothers. It was very difficult tasks for the researcher to make out fund for the project work.
  • Difficult to comprise by the citizens of the state due to some of these imposition to answer some questions that are suppose to quicken the research work as quick is expected by the researcher. Its also contributed to the limitation of the study,
