CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The research work is aimed at a study of leadership style, its impact on a workers morale and productivity and on the workers attitude of employees of Nigeria bottling company Plc, Onitsha, which is used as a study.
Leadership as central of life of any company, a company without a leader is like a ship without captain. Leadership ensures direction and purpose fullness. It focuses on the accomplishment of goals. It then becomes necessary for goals accomplishment, some directions should be included in the company policy.
The concept of leadership is seen as a major management process leadership is divided into two, formal and informal. Formal leaders, one appointed to their leadership positions while informal leadership is by selections, each of leaders relies on a different source of authority to influence members.
As will be seen, a manager who relies exclusively on his formal authority (which represent his right to manager to influence group member. 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Historical background of Nigeria Bottling Plc. The Nigeria bottling company Plc is an international company of outstanding reputed. He came into being. In 1953, the year its set up it’s first plant at Apapa Lagos, Nigeria. It is a bottler of soft drinks which include coca cola, Fanta tonic, Fanta Orange, Fanta Orange, Fanta ginger etc, the success of the company over the year brought with it an expansion programme which gave birth to other plants in various parts of the country.
Today, NBC has its plants in virtually all the big cities within the country including Onitsha –the Onitsha plant covers and take care of customers within Anambra State. The study is based on the effectiveness style in companies in Anambra state. The study covers the entire companies in Onitsha Anambra state but more emphasis are given to bottling company Plc Onitsha. It is based on the senior staff, junior staff and management (supervisors) of the organizations, concerning the Junior staff of the company, it has to do either how leaders style used by the manage to influence their job performance, which it is under close supervision, when they promise of rewords. Even when allowed to use their own initiatives and have sense of belonging.
Then on the side of the manager (supervisor) how do they give their employees the sense of belonging based on decision making, when there is problems or mistakes from the employers how to they treat them to see those mistake corrected. All these have an important role to play in achieving the organization goals.
